The vision of the World Stroke Organization is a world where people live free from the effects of stroke. The World Stroke Academy is aligned to this vision and aims to promote professional #strokeeducation and raise #awareness of WSO as a global leader in stroke. We are a team that welcome new ideas and foster diversity of opinions to achieve excellence.
- Gustavo Saposnik – Editor in Chief
Dr. Gustavo Saposnik is a scientist, stroke neurologist, and Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Toronto, Canada. Gustavo has a global perspective with specific interest in cardiovascular health, decision neuroscience, and stroke care. His vision is improving clinical outcomes through cost-effective, high impact, and innovative strategies by applying concepts from Neuroeconomics integrated within existing clinical care services Worldwide. His goal as the EiC of the WSA is based on strengthening three pillars: i) teamwork and collaboration, ii) facilitating access to practical and high-quality material relevant to our daily stroke practice, and iii) increasing the value of the WSA.
- #AnitaArsovska – Associate Commissioning Editor
Anita Arsovska is Professor of Neurology at the medical faculty, University Ss Cyril and Methodius, Skopje, N. Macedonia, and Head of Department for Urgent Neurology at the University Clinic of Neurology. She is Vice-President of Stroke Alliance for Europe (SAFE) and one of the co-founders of the Macedonian organization for a fight against stroke- a stroke support organization. Other activities include regular public activities for promoting stroke prevention and raising stroke awareness (f.e. World Stroke Day, supporting World Stroke Campaign and European Stroke Day) and the organisation of public campaigns and scientific meetings.
- Laura Ceci Galanos – Executive Manager
Laura Ceci Galanos is Online Learning Specialist and works as Executive Manager for the WSA. Her educational background is in Communications, with a degree from the University of Rome La Sapienza, Italy and she has since then increasingly worked in the field of online education and social media branding. Her current responsibilities involve maintaining the existing e-learning portal, creating new education activities and webinars, among other activity formats, and supervising/monitoring the WSA social media.
- #RodrigoGuerrero – Social Media Leader
Rodrigo is a neurologist with a stroke-based practice in Santiago, Chile, currently working at the Santiago Oriente Hospital, and Clínica Santa María, instructor of Neurology at the Universidad de los Andes Neurology Residency Program, member of the Neurohospitalist and Cerebrovascular Disease Working Team from the Neurology, Psychiatry and Neurosurgery Society of Chile, SONEPSYN, and part of the Neurology Advisory Group from the Chilean Ministry of Health.
- Florencia Casagrande – Communications Specialist
Florencia Casagrande is a Community Manager based in Argentina with experience in public relations and generation of social media content. In her role as Communication specialist, Florencia will develop a communication strategy and the visual image of the WSA for its social media channels, focusing not only on image designs, but also creating useful infographics for the community.
- Emili Adhamidhis – Data Science & Research Manager
Emili Adhamidhis is a Research Assistant at the University of Toronto, Canada with a background in Neuroscience and works as the Data Science/Research manager for the WSA. In this role, Emili supports the growth of the World Stroke Academy’s research in medical education by collecting and presenting data, preparing research questions, helping to organize webinars, and more. Emili has a profound interest in neuroscience, with specific interest in stroke outcome and the aetiology of neurodegenerative diseases. You can follow Emili on Twitter @EmiliAdhami !
