Ana Claudia de Souza

Dr. Ana Claudia de Souza is a Brazilian Stroke Neurologist, working in assistance to neurology patients (outpatient and hospital), but mainly in coordinating and managing clinical research projects at Hospital Moinhos de Vento (HMV), Porto Alegre, Brazil. A member of the executive committee of the RESILIENT-EXTEND trial and a member of the steering committee of the RESILIENT EXTEND-IV and RESILIENT DIRECT-TNK trials. She is interested in supporting economic evaluations in LATAM countries to incorporate new evidence-based technologies for stroke treatment and leads a funded project by the WSO, “Unveiling the cost of acute stroke in LATAM.” She participates in the LATAM Certification of Stroke Centers and continuously trains local multidisciplinary teams for stroke care improvement, and participates in the South Brazilian Telestroke Program, attending approximately 15 hospitals. She is a reviewer of essential journals in stroke neurology (PlosOne, Cerebrovascular Disease, and Frontiers in Neurology) and a board member of the InterSECT section of STROKE journal as an assistant editor. She has a Medicine Graduation from the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul -Brazil (UFRGS) (2012), a Neurology residency at the Hospital de Clínicas de Porto Alegre (HCPA) (2014-2017), a Fellowship degree in Stroke Neurology at the HCPA (2018), post-graduation degree in Stroke Neurology at the HMV (2018) and a Ph.D. degree in Medical Sciences-Neurology focused on Health Economics at the UFRGS (2021). She has been a member of the Future Stroke Leaders program of the World Stroke Organization since 2021 and a member of the Brazilian Society of Cerebrovascular Diseases, Brazilian Stroke Network, and World Stroke Organization.
